Examining successful injury prevention initiatives allow us to plan future interventions. Injury is the leading cause of death for British Columbians aged 1-to-44-years-old. These injuries are largely preventable, and appropriate interventions can save lives and prevent disability.
Everyone has a role in injury prevention—senior decision makers, policy makers, legislators, public health professionals, and others in BC who have a responsibility in injury prevention and/or a role in resource allocation can work together to make a difference.
In 2015, BCIRPU created a casebook for injury prevention. This resource was created to assist decision-makers in advocating for injury prevention initiatives. Since then, we have adapted the casebook into a live page on our website.
