Overview

  • Falls are a leading cause of injury across the lifespan
  • Falls can result in fractures, sprains, and in some cases, disability
  • Falls are identified as the top source of injury-related costs in BC.
  • In 2023, the total cost of falls is $2,031 million, including $1,665 million in direct costs to the healthcare system and $367 million in indirect costs, accounting for the loss of societal productivity.1
